After a first look at ACEs in the previous session, this session will take a deeper look at how trauma impacts academics, behavior, and relationships in the classroom and school.
Divide into 3 smaller groups for a jigsaw reading
Group 1 should read pages 22-31; the impact of trauma on academics.
Group 2 should read pages 32-37; the impact of trauma on behavior
Group 3 should read pages 38-41; the impact of trauma on relationships
- Before each group begins reading, review the Jigsaw Protocol. Discuss as a team how the reading and “expert” sharing will occur based on the number of team members.
- Experts should share their section based on the protocols.The team then discusses the overall impact of trauma on a classroom setting or school setting.
