An Overview of Literacy Centers

Here are four keys to effective learning centers can transform center activity from busywork to meaningful learning tasks:

  1. Create, model, and practice procedures
  2. Group with intention
  3. Provide meaningful tasks
  4. Assess the impact

This inquiry cycle starts with an opportunity to create shared agreement about what centers are, and then we will look at centers as part of a balanced ELA practice. Then we include a session on each one of these four components of effective centers.
